Fashion Week is back in London, and once again the capital is becoming a showcase for creativity, design and new talent.
London Fashion Week takes place from 17–21 September 2026, bringing designers, creatives and industry professionals together to celebrate British fashion and the people shaping its future.
For aspiring fashion designers and stylists, it is a time to be inspired by the industry. But the journey to the catwalk starts long before the first model steps onto it.
Where does a career in fashion begin?
For many aspiring creatives, it starts with a passion for fashion and a desire to learn how ideas can become reality.
At NKC Dartford College, our Fashion students develop both the creative and technical skills needed to take their first steps towards the fashion industry.
The Level 2 and Level 3 Fashion courses covers everything from fashion design and illustration to pattern cutting, garment construction, styling and textile techniques. Students also develop skills in fashion photography and other areas of creative practice, working in dedicated fashion studios.
The emphasis is on learning by doing. Students develop ideas, experiment with different materials and techniques, respond to creative briefs and build a portfolio of work that can support their next steps.
Fashion is a team effort
The modern fashion industry brings together people with many different skills, and that collaborative approach is reflected at NKC Dartford College.
Fashion students have opportunities to work with students from hair, beauty, photography, acting and dance, creating projects that mirror the collaborative nature of the creative industries.
From Dartford to the fashion industry
Our students have progressed to leading universities including Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, UCA Epsom, Ravensbourne and Nottingham Trent, among others.
For those who dream of becoming a fashion designer, stylist, fashion photographer, buyer, merchandiser or another creative professional, building the right skills and experience is an important first step.
