Prevent is a national strategy that aims to stop people from becoming involved in terrorism or supporting extremist activity. It forms part of the government’s wider safeguarding approach and focuses on early support for individuals who may be at risk. What does Prevent cover? At NKC Dartford College, Prevent addresses all forms of extremism, including far-right extremism, religious extremism, and other forms of radicalisation. Signs of possible radicalisation Some signs that may indicate someone is at risk include changes in behaviour or mood, expressing extreme views, becoming isolated, or showing increased sympathy towards extremist ideas. How to report a concern If you are worried about someone, it’s important to speak to a member of staff. You can talk to your tutor or contact the Welfare and Safeguarding Team at NKC Dartford College. Raising a concern can help someone access support at an early stage.
